You Better Live... Live Your Life
Life is full of options, but let’s keep it real! Most people struggle from time to time, just trying to keep it all together. It can take a toll on the strongest of people.
Often life comes at us hard and without warning. Work/life balance is ideal, but is also easier said than done for many of us. To live with an “I stay ready” attitude requires a “Stay Woke” mentality. Is that YOU? As the lyrics to the song by Donnie McClurkin say, “We fall down, but we get up…”
If you’ve experienced times of feeling overwhelmed or you’re just plain old tired, I urge you to consider a HOLISTIC approach when on the path to reclaim or create a lifestyle of wellness.
Focusing on your body, mind and soul represents the totality of you; the wondrous one that God purposed before you ever took your first breath. Doing so requires that you invest in yourself.
I hear you thinking, but where do I begin?
Identify your values. Is your lifestyle in alignment with them? When life was good, what values were being honored?
Ask yourself…
What is my passion? Am I walking in my purpose? Do I know what my gifts are? Is my existence just OK or do I have JOY in my soul? What is truly important to me?
Most of us are “good people,” but even so, it’s possible to move to higher levels of satisfaction. Some of us are physically present, but mentally and emotionally absent.
Let’s look at managing our Emotional Intelligence:
Awareness: Recognize that emotion comes from interpretation of events that occur in daily life. What triggers your response to things that occur? The more aware we become, the more we are able to increase our effectiveness in life. Positive energy attracts other positive energy. Are you hanging out with people bringing you down or lifting you up?
Expression: Not allowing your emotions to be expressed can create negative energy. Management of emotions involves analyzing your mood and what triggers the changes. Knowing this and practicing self-control places you on the road to success. Strive to emotionally choose positive action/outlook over negative every day. This choice is yours alone. Positivity produces anabolic energy.
Here a few things to try:
Journal daily
Place essential oils in a diffuser while relaxing at home
Take walks outside
Read a book at the beach
Practice yoga or try something you’ve never done before
Create goals and determine which are ideal versus those you absolutely must accomplish and write down the first step in making them a reality
Establish deadlines for your goals
Consider finding an accountability partner to work with you on those goals
