Wellbeing Is Not A Perk, It’s A Retention Strategy
This isn’t about taking PTO days, leaves of absence, or surface-level wellness programs. We’re talking about real, heart-centered support—especially for those silently navigating personal challenges like divorce, caregiving, grief, or empty nesting while still showing up and performing at work.
These professionals are leaders. They’re also human. And right now, they’re asking themselves, "Can I still thrive here?"
Why This Matters for Employers
When your employees’ well-being suffers, so does your bottom line.
When employees hurt, so does retention.
If your organizational culture doesn’t acknowledge the full human experience, you risk losing your best people—not because they lack dedication, but because they’re no longer willing to sacrifice their mental health, values, and life priorities for work. They want more than flowers sent to their homes, standing workstations, and catered departmental meals.
Forward-thinking organizations are choosing a different path. They’re reimagining how work gets done by embedding empathy, flexibility, and emotional intelligence into their leadership models.
As someone who advanced my national corporate career while simultaneously -
Navigating divorce
Providing care for both of my parents as they aged
Experiencing burnout
I knew there had to be a better way to redesign my future.
From Lived Experience to Leadership Strategy
I've lived the complexities of trying to show up fully while leading teams and processes. Eventually, I regretted the day while at work when my vice president asked if I was ok, and I told her that working helped lessen my grief. Sadly, in that moment, I honestly believed what I said to be true. Have you ever recognized that the story you told yourself, believing it to be true, in reality, had no merit? Lesson learned...be sure to fact-check ways in which you interpret things.
At that time, I habitually embodied a "push through" mentality while continuing to deliver exceptional results. During the years that followed, I recognized that numerous leaders did what I did, to their personal detriment at times. This is why I now provide experiential workshops to teach leaders at organizations how to lead with heart first, then strategy.
If you're unable to connect with this topic today, I promise that you will one day in the future, when it hits close to home...or impacts you personally.
Life doesn't pause when the workday begins, and neither does the emotional impact of what your employees bring to work daily.
When organizations lead with authentic care and not just compliance, they experience:
✅ Higher engagement
✅ Lower turnover
✅ Increased innovation
✅ Better bottom lines
Together, let's change the strategies to improve outcomes.
Acknowledge grief, stress, and personal setbacks.
Reimagine how work gets done.
Normalize flexibility and purpose-driven leadership.
Train managers to lead the whole person, not just the job title.
If you’re an HR, team leader, or heart-led professional committed to driving culture change, I want to build with you. Schedule a call or DM me to discuss ways to customize proven experiential workshops and my book for your leaders, on-site or virtual.
