The World Continues To Evolve. Will You?

Your life will evolve whether you’re ready or not.  I value opportunities to stretch myself by trying new things. It keeps my life interesting! A by product is that it strengthens me physically and mentally. After challenging yourself once, it becomes easier. You’re able to look back knowing you did it once and you can do it again.

Obstacles will arise and friends or family may not agree with your new goals. It’s important for you to believe that each step forward, will open your eyes wide enough for clarity to begin to emerge.

Two reasons you haven’t moved forward:

·  So focused on your “situation” that you’ve lost sight of who you are

·  You’re not brave enough to be risk tolerant

A couple of real life examples that could have ended differently:

· Oprah disclosed that she was a victim of physical, mental and sexual abuse in her youth. As an adult, she was fired from a position as a TV news anchor in Baltimore, yet she’s now a billionaire.

· Michael Jordan disclosed that he missed 9,000 shots during his career. Just look at the number of shots he made!

You’re a leader who may be divorced. You may have been a caregiver or you’re currently an empty nester. If you’re like me, once you were past these pivotal phases, you recognized that you’re not the same person you were before you experienced these journeys. It’s probable that your core values have also changed. When was the last time you specifically reflected on your core values?

Think about it from this perspective… your car needs an oil change and new tires, from time to time. Regardless of your age, you too, can benefit from an overhaul.  Everyone can move their life forward and it’s healthy to do so. Yes, it requires work that may only appeal to those who are growth oriented yet I suspect you are because you’re still reading.

Yep…I’m blunt like that at times! We all need a tune up from time to time to exercise our mental and physical energy. The past few years have been unprecedented. If it hasn’t gotten your attention, I question whether you’re living. (Ok, that’s another story for a different day)

Steps to begin your reinvention:

· Challenge yourself by embracing your fears. Learn to be uncomfortable. This is where growth begins.

· Create a vision of what you want your life to include.

· Always remember, through every crisis, challenge, obstacle, misstep…there are opportunities of renewal and rebirth.

Of course, you may feel overwhelmed at times. It can be helpful to acknowledge that you have opportunities to create new habits, should you decide to do so, to reduce the lebel of stress you may be experiencing.

Habits and behaviors take you where you want to go. Therefore, you must self-evaluate what you do with your time. If you are idle, accomplishing goal may not occur timely. You must eliminate habits that are contrary to your goals.  Reinvention involves removing self-imposed shackles. Continuing to carry dead weight can lead to depression, which is not a good look!

Habit formation:

Stop letting fear hold you hostage. It’s not your friend and shouldn’t be in your inner circle. Kick it to the curb!

If you feel guilty about something that has happened, apologize to yourself and the other person, if applicable, ask for forgiveness and continue to move forward.

Reinventing includes burying a part of you that is dead, so you can birth new vision, new goals, new life.

Believe in yourself so much that you refuse not to allow yourself to grow forward.

Lastly, get a mentor or coach to guide you so that you can arrive quicker than if you go at it alone.
