Know When to Pause

Would you agree if I said, it’s my opinion leaders typically value making timely decisions with accuracy often adds an additional layer stress to an already arduous lifestyle?

As someone who lead teams and processes in a corporate Workers’ Compensation department, it was important to me to do all things well. Though I experienced a divorce, I remained on a mission to advance my career. I was then and remain strategic and logical. During college I visualized working in a corporate environment upon graduation. It was more than a goal; I thought about how it would look and feel.

Though divorced by the time my daughters were in middle school, their father and I managed most things well when it came to our girls.

Through the years, I became accustomed to leaving work, often later than I should have, causing me to break out into full sprints through parking lots and up steps often late, to get to scouting, music concerts, sporting events  and parent teacher meetings to ensure I was there to observe my children doing what they loved… not just during the school year, but annually from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Feeling fatigued was my norm.  I never complained. I knew the day would come when they’d reside in college dorms. So, until then, I vowed to excel personally and professionally.

Can you relate? Have you made similar commitments?

I’m building a business to do the work I do purposefully, because of what I learned from firsthand experience.

 One lesson I learned

Know when to pause and when to go.

Here are some tips to help you to stop overthinking, so you can effectively imagine the future you desire with clarity and confidence, despite any challenges that come your way.

🌿Get still and quiet to self-reflect so you can understand the emotions you feel when replaying the same sad or distracting stories over and over in your mind.

 🌿Identify what triggers your thoughts.

🌿Distance yourself from your thoughts by physically doing something different.

🌿Change your focus so you can concentrate on writing your thoughts down in a way to begin to address resolution.

🌿Initiate action even if it’s a small step toward the changes you want.

 🌿Set one realistic goal.

🌿Accomplish one goal at a time.

 🌿Recognize no one is perfect.

✅Taking imperfect action is better than no action.

If this is helpful, please let me know.

 Let’s grow forward together!
